 INTRODUCTION
 

Build-Master is the flagship software of Ensoft. It is a complete package for RCC Building Analysis, Design, Drawing and Estimation. Data for building is entered floor wise, in the form of graphical sketch. Program will generate 3D frame model with earthquake and wind loads.It designs RCC beams & Slabs at all levels and also the columns and footings. It generates working drawings of floor plans, design schedules and beam details in DXF format, which can be read by CAD packages. It also estimates quantities of concrete, reinforcement, brickwork, plaster etc., automatically from floor plans without entering data in L x B x D format.

Design Engineers
All the design activities are done with this software. Rigorous analysis of buildings for earthquake/wind forces and RCC design of all components is done only with a few keystrokes on computer. The detail working drawings are prepared without entering even a line command in drafting package

 

Architects
Can get the accurate quantities of brickwork, plaster, flooring etc. from single line plan alone. Tedious calculations of carpet and built up areas are done. Quantities of concrete and reinforcement are calculated by entering only the RCC design schedules. Schematic 3D elevation of building is generated from the same plan data at various levels.

 

Builders & Contractors
No need to read the dimensions from drawings and put them in tabular from. Quantity outputs are in conventional L-B-D formats. Measurements at site can be cross-checked easily at the office before billing Bar Bending Schedule, generated by BUILD-MASTER can be sent to site for action by fitters. Preliminary tender quantities can be calculated without rigorous RCC design.

We have a great pleasure in releasing the redesigned and rewritten version of our renowned software BUILD-MASTER, with a brand new look. It will be the most advanced and powerful RCC Building Design, Drawing and Estimation Software available today.

 

The first Version of BUILD-MASTER software was introduced way back in 1990. The software was revised with continuous efforts and the quest for excellence over the years, as per evolution of computer hardware and software technology. There were five major revisions in the software namely; Version 4.5 in 1995, Version 5.5 in 1997 and Version 2000, 2005 & Version 2009.

 

It is an innovative suite of software products, for Building Design, Drawing & Estimation. Entering the single line floor plan is all that you do. The rest is done by BUILD-MASTER.

 Unique Features
 

Build-Master has a new concept of defining the building data as a Project with floors at different levels. Height between levels can vary. Floor-plan is graphically entered. Plan entry for identical floors need not be repeated. Data entry is simple even for a high-rise building.

 
 CRITERIA  DESCRIPTION
 Graphical Plan Input  
1. Non Rectangular Slabs
Slabs need not be rectangular, but can be any polygon upto 15 sides. Loads on these slabs are properly transferred on adjacent beams.
2. Concept of Beams and Members
When a beam is divided into number of parts by cross beams, then each part is called as member. One beam can have 15 such members. Analysis is done in terms of members, but design and drawings are created with respect to beams.
3. Wall loads calculated automatically
Wall load on beams is calculated by the program,using floor height (after deducting the beam size), wall thickness & wall density.
4. Distribution of Slab Loads
Slab loading is exactly transferred on the adjacent beams as triangular or trapezoidal loads, depending on slab spanning. One-way slab loads can be transferred on two opposite beams or all four beams as desired by the user.
 
 Drawings  
1. RCC Working Drawings
RCC working plan is generated with column centerline and grid markings. Single line, as well as double line beam layout is available.
2.  Architectural Drawings
Architectural drawings show Walls, Door, Window positions and clear room dimensions.
3. Drawings in CAD format
All drawings are generated in CAD format, which can be directly read in CAD package.
 
 RCC Design  
1. Method of Design
Both Limit State and Working Stress Methods are available.
2. Concrete Age Factor
Can be considered for increasing allowable stresses in concrete.
3. Design of Footings
Footings can be designed for biaxial moments. Overturning and sliding is also checked for stability. Loss of contact & redistribution of pressure can be considered if desired.
4. Design of Columns
Columns can be designed for biaxial moments. Slenderness and minimum eccentricity is checked automatically and accounted for, as additional moments.
5. Design of Slabs
Continuity conditions of slab edges, is detected from plan data. Slab sunk data is used in Slab design/ Flanged Beam design ( T or L ) and reinforcement steel estimation as well.
6. Choice of Reinforcement Bar Combinations User can provide a list of bar combinations for various steel areas. Beam bottom bars / top bars and Column bars have separate lists
7. Percentage Redistribution of support Moments. Redistribution up to 30% can be considered in the design of beam support sections.
8. Output formats Design outputs are stored in calculation sheet type and Schedule form as well.
9. Editing of Design on Plan
Layout
Design Schedule Output data of sizes and reinforcement steel are plotted on single plan layout. User can edit bar combinations of any Beam or Slab by selecting i from the plan.
 
  Analysis  
1. Structure type
Building can be idealized as Space frame. 3D Frames are generated from plan data at each level. Floating columns and split-levels are possible.
2. Horizontal Loads
Earthquake and Wind Loads are calculated automatically from plan data. They can be applied at C.G. of floor at each level.
3. Graphical Sketches
Sketch of structure is displayed graphically with applied loads. Deflection, Moments and shear force Diagrams for 3D frames are plotted.
4. Design Check
User entered design schedules can be checked for adequacy by doing detail analysis.
 
 Estimation  
1. RCC and Architectural Quantities
Quantities are calculated for concrete, brickwork, plaster, flooring, skirting, Built-up and carpet areas, etc. Reinforcement steel quantity is calculated with diameter wise breakup.
2. L-B-D format outputs
Quantities are printed in L-B-D format, which are as good as measurement sheets.
 
 3D & BAR Charts  
1. 3D Elevation
Elevation of building is created from plan data in 3D-DXF format, compatible with CAD or 3D Studio. The elevation shows RCC elements as well as walls, doors & windows.
2. Bar Charts
A new concept of Design Bar Charts is introduced in BUILD-MASTER. The design parameters such as beam size, reinforcement steel, and percentage of steel are plotted graphically in the form of bar charts for easy checking of design outputs and schedules.
 
 Other Unique Features  
1. Data Base at Backend
BUILD-MASTER uses advanced ODBC (Other Data Base Connectivity) concept for storing the RCC design data. With this the data is available in standard data base format. Presently the data is stored in MS Access format.
2. Flexible Numbering
Beams, Slabs and Columns of a project can be assigned Numbers of users choice, e.g. B1a, S1x, C1a etc.
 
 
 
 WHAT'S NEW IN BUILD-MASTER ?
 

Auto Design All Floors
After Building model is created from the plans and Frame Analysis is done, in earlier version of Build-Master, user has to select each floor and give the command to design Beams & Slabs at every level. No more hassle of selecting the floor again & again. Auto Design All Floors, a new option from TOOLS menu will not only design Beams & Slabs at all floors with a single command, but it will also estimate the quantities and prepare design drawings.
Thus after entering single line plans with INPUT PLAN and editing data with EDIT PLAN DATA option from FLOORS menu, A Single new command Auto Design All Floors will Carry out Grid Analysis of All Floors, Create 3D model, Carry out Space Frame Analysis for Earthquake & Wind, Design Beams & Slabs at all Floors, Design Columns & Footings, Estimate Quantities & Create Design Drawings at all Floors.
User has complete control on selecting these options as shown above. Redesign of single components with Interactive Design option is available as earlier.

 

Set User Skill
Many computer games give option for the user to set his Level of skill for playing the game. On similar lines Set User Skill, a new concept is added in Build-Master, to set user skill level.
For the Beginners program will display Help Dialog Boxes, before execution of every command, describing what action will be taken by that command. It will also display and explain how to use various options of it.
Many Commands and options of the program remains Unused by User, due to lack of knowledge about its application. Set User Skill concept will eliminate such situations.
Set User Skill will also save the time of a senior person in an organization, spent on training a newly joined engineer for software usage for first time.
Help Dialog Boxes will not be displayed for an Expert user.

 

Display Output File
Space Frame Analysis output files are huge files and divided in various sections like Nodal Co-ordinates, Member Connections, Support Reactions etc. Locating a desired section in a Text Editor is not simple. A new utility is now added to display the desired section easily from a menu. It will also display the summation of Support Reactions for checking the results.

 

Improved Graphical Editor
New Editing commands Trim, Extend, Fillet & Change Point are now added in the in-built Graphical editor, Input Plan, apart from the earlier options of Copy, Move, Mirror, Offset, Rotate etc.
Draw Arc, Draw Circle, Show Distance, List Entities are also added to make the Single Line Plan drawing simpler.

Program Settings made Easy
Now a Default path for creating New Projects can be set by the user. In earlier Version it was fixed path as BMProjects.
Optional Password Facility is provided in the program. So that a Beginner cannot change the Important Settings of Design Parameters and Bar Combinations prepared by an Expert User.
Project Code can now be 10 characters long, instead of the earlier limitation of 4. Project folder path can now be 255 characters long, instead of earlier limitation of 50.
Program will now run on Windows Vista Operating System as well.

 

Editing of Design on Plan layout
After Automatic Design of Beams & Slabs are done, In ealier version user has to edit Design Schedules in tabular form. But now in the latest version, Design Schedule output data of sizes and reinforcement steel are plotted on single plan layout. User can edit bar combinations of any Beam or Slab by selecting it from the plan.

 

User Selectable Fonts in DXF Drawings
Now user can select the Text Fonts of his choice, with new Font Button, while creating the RCC & Architectural plans as well as Design Schedule Drawings in DXF file formats.
Drawings can be created in both Metric or British units as desired by the user.

RCC plan Drawings & Design Schedule Drawings will now be more colorful, instead of only Black as in earlier version.
Scroll Button on mouse can now be used in Build-Master to change the size of a graphical image.
